Practicing yoga based movements in pregnancy can help if you’re suffering from common pregnancy complaints such as lower back pain, insomnia, and nausea.
Learning breathing techniques and in particular using deep breathing techniques helps to promote greater levels of relaxation which will help you sleep better, regulate your heart rate and blood pressure.
During pregnancy it is especially important to learn to work your pelvic floor. Your pelvic floor helps to support all your internal organs as well as your baby during pregnancy. Your pelvic floor can weaken during pregnancy and childbirth so it very important to work the pelvic floor before and after childbirth.
Connecting with your baby is a great opportunity to take time out of your busy work and home life and bond with your growing bump.
Don’t forget to build that all important social network! being a new mum can be tough. Attending a pregnancy yoga class can help you to build your network with other expectant mums!
